A graphic showing the study design details of SURPASS-PEDS, Mounjaro vs placebo (+ metformin and/or basal insulin), from 4 weeks before the start of the study to week 52, followed by a 4-week safety follow-up period. Screening and lead-in began 4 weeks before the start of the study, and randomization occurred at week 0 (the start of the study). 99 patients were randomized at week 0. Patients randomized to receive Mounjaro 5 mg (+ metformin and/or basal insulin) started at 2.5 mg at week 0 and escalated to 5 mg at week 4. Patients randomized to Mounjaro 5 mg remained at that dose to week 52. Patients randomized to receive Mounjaro 10 mg (+ metformin and/or basal insulin) started at 2.5 mg at week 0, escalated to 5 mg at week 4, escalated to 7.5 mg at week 8, and escalated to 10 mg at week 12. Patients randomized to Mounjaro 10 mg remained at that dose to week 52. Patients randomized to receive placebo (+ metformin and/or basal insulin) started at week 0 and remained on placebo to week 30. At week 30, patients randomized to receive placebo (+ metformin and/or basal insulin) started Mounjaro 2.5 mg (+ metformin and/or basal insulin) for 4 weeks and escalated to Mounjaro 5 mg and remained at that dose to week 52. Week 30 is the primary endpoint and the end of the double-blind period. Week 52 is the end of treatment.
